From 1 September 2024, amended WHS Regulations impose stronger obligations on PCBUs working with any substance containing at least 1% crystalline silica — not just engineered stone. Requirements include licensing, health surveillance, air monitoring, and control plans. These amendments significantly expand the practical application of this Code beyond the engineered stone ban context and require PCBUs in construction, mining, tunnelling, and manufacturing to review their RCS management systems.
