The obligation
The CoP restricts live electrical work to specific circumstances and requires additional controls including permits, supervision, and PPE.
The Model CoP provides that live electrical work is prohibited except in strictly defined circumstances (e.g. de-energisation is not reasonably practicable, or required for testing). When live work is permitted, additional controls apply: risk assessment, permit-to-work, suitable PPE, supervision, and competency requirements. PCBUs must document and justify any live work decisions.
