Friable asbestos removal requires a Class A licence; non-friable ACM removal >10 m² requires a Class B licence. Unlicensed removal is prohibited.
The WHS Regulation requires that any removal of friable asbestos be performed by a Class A licensed asbestos removalist. Removal of more than 10 m² of non-friable ACM requires a Class B licence. Minor disturbance of non-friable ACM (≤10 m²) may be performed by a competent, trained worker but must follow safe work procedures. Duty holders engaging removalists must verify current licences.
