The obligation
PCBUs managing a workplace built before 31 Dec 2003 must identify, assess, and record all asbestos and ACM in an asbestos register, kept at the workplace.
A PCBU who manages or controls a workplace (other than a domestic premises) must ensure an asbestos register is prepared if asbestos or ACM is (or is likely to be) present. The register must record location, type, condition, and date identified, and be reviewed when asbestos work is performed or conditions change. It must be accessible to workers and contractors. Failure to maintain it is a breach of the WHS Regulation.
