The obligation
Air monitoring must be conducted during asbestos removal to verify controls are effective and clearance monitoring is required before re-occupation.
The Code requires background and exposure air monitoring during asbestos removal work to check that control measures keep airborne fibre levels below the exposure standard (0.1 fibres/mL). Clearance air monitoring by an independent licensed asbestos assessor is required before a work area is re-occupied after Class A or Class B removal. Results must be documented and available to workers.
