The obligation
HVNL and the Heavy Vehicle (Fatigue Management) National Regulation prescribe work/rest hour limits for drivers and impose duties on schedulers, operators, and other CoR parties to prevent fatigue.
The Heavy Vehicle (Fatigue Management) National Regulation sets standard, basic fatigue management (BFM), and advanced fatigue management (AFM) options. Drivers must comply with prescribed work/rest hours. Schedulers, operators, consignors, and other CoR parties must ensure they do not cause or contribute to a driver working while fatigued. The 2025 Amendment Package updates accreditation pathways and instruments underpinning AFM.
