The obligation
Operators must comply with accreditation scheme requirements under the HVNL and the General Regulation, including notification of amendments, suspension or ending of accreditation.
The Heavy Vehicle (General) National Regulation and the parent HVNL impose obligations on accredited operators including notifying the NHVR of changes to accreditation status (s 471 HVNL). The NHVR administers accreditation schemes (e.g. Basic Fatigue Management, Standard Management). Ministerial Guidelines for Heavy Vehicle Accreditation were updated in May 2026. Operators must maintain compliance with scheme conditions or face suspension or cancellation.
