The obligation
Businesses that design, manufacture, import or supply plant, substances or structures must, on request, give current relevant safety information to people who will work with them.
The duty applies so far as is reasonably practicable, and extends to anyone who carries out, or is to carry out, the activities the Act lists for the item. The information includes any conditions needed for the plant, substance or structure to be without risks to health and safety when used for its intended purpose. Each of these duty holders carries the obligation in its own right.
