An approved food safety training course is one provided by a registered training organisation and approved by the chief health officer under the food safety training approval guidelines. A food safety supervisor must hold a statement of attainment for such a course and meet any eligibility requirement under the Act. Their formal duties must include recognising, preventing and alleviating food safety hazards, with authority to supervise and direct food handlers in the business on food safety.
